Hilton Points Missing After a Stay? Check the Booking Channel Before Filing a Request
If Hilton points are missing after checkout, check how you booked before submitting a request. Hilton’s FAQ excludes third-party website bookings from eligible stays and asks you to allow up to five business days for a missing past stay in North America, or two weeks outside North America, before requesting credit.[1] Start with the checklist below to separate a missing stay from a stay showing zero points.
1. Check the booking channel and rate
Open your original confirmation and identify the company that took the booking, the hotel, the dates, and the rate description. Do not rely only on the Hilton logo or the fact that you stayed at a Hilton property.
Hilton’s FAQ lists “third party websites bookings (irrespective of rate paid)” among ineligible stays. Its program terms also exclude these bookings and state that points and stay credit cannot be earned during ineligible stays, including on folio charges.[1][2] A receipt showing payment is therefore not, by itself, proof of eligibility.
- Third-party website: check the exclusion before treating zero points as a posting error. Ask Hilton to clarify the booking classification if it is unclear.
- Direct Hilton booking: check the rate and eligible charges rather than assuming every paid amount earns points.
- Employer booking tool or travel arranger: save the confirmation and ask which channel and rate were used. Do not assume a universal corporate-booking exception.
2. Identify exactly what is missing
Look at the individual stay entry, not just your total points balance. Use one of these descriptions in your request:
- The stay is absent. Hilton’s missing-past-stay FAQ says to allow up to five business days after checkout inside North America, or up to two weeks outside North America. If credit has not appeared within those periods, it directs members to request missing-stay credit from their account.[1]
- The stay appears, but shows zero points. Ask for an eligibility and charge review. Include the booking channel and rate instead of describing the whole stay as missing. This is a troubleshooting recommendation, not a finding that Hilton made an error.
- Stay credit appears, but a promotional or partner bonus is absent. Identify the exact offer and check its own requirements. Hilton describes partner and promotional points separately from hotel Base Points; do not apply the missing-stay waiting period to every bonus.[1]
Those waiting periods describe when to request missing past-stay credit. They are not a promise that a request will be approved or resolved within the same period.
3. Make a private missing-stay worksheet
Copy this checklist into your own notes. It is a preparation aid, not a claim that every field is mandatory on Hilton’s form.
- Hotel name and country: ______
- Check-in and checkout dates: ______
- Booking website or arranger, plus rate name: ______
- Reservation reference: ______
- Honors account used; whether its number appears on your records: ______
- Missing item: absent stay / zero points / named bonus: ______
- Final hotel folio available: yes / no / needs correction
- Previous request reference and date: ______
- Next action and any follow-up date Hilton provides: ______
If a receipt is unavailable in your account, Hilton’s FAQ says to contact the hotel. It also says adjustments made after checkout do not appear on the online receipt and directs guests to call the hotel for assistance.[1] Ask for the corrected folio when that is the record you need.
4. Request a review through Hilton
Use the official Hilton Honors FAQ and find “How do I get credit for a missing Hilton Honors stay?” It instructs members to sign in and submit a Missing Stay Request form.[1] Follow that official route yourself; the signed-in form and submission process were not tested for this guide.
Copy and adapt this message for Hilton’s private support channel:
Please review this completed stay for eligibility and any missing credit. Hotel and country: __. Stay dates: __. Reservation reference: __. Booking channel and rate: __. The stay is absent / visible with zero points / missing this specific bonus: __. My final folio is available if needed. Please explain any eligibility exclusion and advise whether further documentation is required. Previous case reference, if any: __.
Keep the response with your worksheet. If Hilton identifies an exclusion, compare it with your confirmation before requesting another review. If it requests documents, provide only what is needed through its official channel. Keep passwords, payment-card details, and reservation records out of public comments. This page collects none of your stay information.
Next Step
Once your worksheet is complete and the stay meets Hilton’s eligibility requirements, sign in to your Hilton Honors account and submit the Missing Stay Request through the official Hilton Honors FAQ page. Keep all documentation — including any case reference number Hilton provides — until the case is fully resolved.
